Graphic design or visual communication is all about solving problems. The designer's job is to communicate specific ideas through a purely visual medium. This site serves as a web portfolio of various design projects that Jay Lichtmann has worked on over the past few years. Each page has his solutions to specific design problems. Though every designer tackles these predicaments in a different manner, this site will give you a taste of, and may help answer the nagging question:
WHAT WOULD JAY DO?
Jay Lichtmann – Joined the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as the Principal Trumpet in the fall of 1982. He served in that position for 25 years, (through the ’07-’08 season) until he stepped down to the second trumpet chair due to a serious bicycle accident that negatively affected his playing. He went back to school to study graphic design at Tunxis Community College and received his Associates Degree in May 2010. Jay is excited by the field and would love to work for you!
For more info on Jay, check out his bio page on the Hartford Symphony’s web site.
Jay is on the faculty of the Hartt School at the University of Hartford. The U of H hosts his faculty website that features free brass music that he has notated since 1997.
